Delicious Rice Krispie Treats

These Rice Krispie treats are so good and can even be considered a healthy after-school snack!

This recipe for Rice Krispy Treats is so good. You’re kids will love them and so will you! And they are even good for you packed with iron and energy - YUM!

6 cups rice cripies-type breakfast cereal
2 cups sesame seeds
3/4 cup tahini paste
2 tblsp. brown sugar
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup silan (date syrup – can be found in health food stores) OR maple syrup OR corn syrup OR more brown sugar

Place the tahini paste, sugar and silan and honey (or mixture of honey, brown sugar, syrup etc.) in a saucepan and heat stirring constantly until everything is melted together. Remove from heat.

Stir in the rice crispies and sesame seeds ensuring that every little kernel and seed is covered in the delicious sweet syrup.

Spoon the mixture into a rectangular (Pyrex or metal) baking tray lined with wax paper (this makes it easier to remove) and spread evenly leveling out the top. Or you can spoon into mini paper baking cups (like the fluted paper cups muffins are baked in but smaller). Chill the rice krispie treats for at least 3 hours (or overnight) before serving.

If you made them in a baking tray, lift the slab (using the wax paper liner) out and place on a cutting board. Using a very sharp knife, cut into squares and serve!

And you know what? You can use cornflakes or puffed wheat cereal or any other type of breakfast cereal and these treats will still be delicious. Even Granola works!
